THERE WERE ALL KINDS OF SCORPIONS FOR SALE AT THE MARKET TODAY. WE ASKED WHY? THE STUDENTS SAID THEY WERE GROWN ON SCORPION FARMS AND THAT YOU EAT THEM AND THEY ARE GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH. I SAID "NOT ME! " COST OF ONE LITTLE SCORPIAN AS 5.00 YUAN OR ABOUT $.65 CENTS. I ASKED IF YOU NEEDED TO EAT A LOT OF THEM TO BE HEALTHY AND WAS TOLD, THAT JUST ONE OR TWO WOULD DO IT...
WANT SOME TANNER? CHECK OUT THE VIDEO CLIP AT THE END OF THIS POST.. THEY ARE LIVE, ALL LIVE.
CHINESE PEOPLE DO NOT ALL LOOK THE SAME. MANY HAVE DISTINCTIVE FEATURES AND COME FROM VARIOUS TRIBES IN DIFFERENT PROVINCES OF CHINA. THEY ARE MANY. HERE ARE A FEW I MET THIS WEEK:
SCORPION MERCHANT: FIRST THE LADY SELLING LIVE SCORPIONS IN A BOWL IN FRONT OF HER. SHE WAS TRYING TO KEEP WARM FROM THE COLD WIND IN THE LARGE BOX. SHE WAS A LITTLE HESITANT TO TAKE THIS PHOTO, BUT FINALLY AGREED. SEE VIDEO CLIP OF THE SCORPIANS...
GROUNDS WORKER: THIS COLORFUL GENTLEMAN WAS CLEANING UP THE AREA ON TOP OF THE HEROS MONUMENT MOUNTAIN WHEN WE WERE TAKING A PHOTO OF OUR TOUR GROUP. IT WAS FREEZING COLD AND WINDY UP THERE. I GRABBED HIM AND SHOT THIS PHOTO. HE WAS "WERY HAPPY" AS I SHOWED IT TO HIM ON THE CAMERA....
ALBINO BOY: THIS CUTE LITTLE BOY WE SAID HELLO TO AT THE MARKET. HE HAD A LITTLE DIFFERENT LOOK, BUT WAS A CUTE FELLOW AND SAID "HELLO" TO US. HE WAS HELPING HIS MOM AT THE STORE. HIS SKIN WAS LIGHT, WHAT LITTLE HAIR HE POSSESSED WAS WHITE AND HIS EYES WERE (YES) PINK. WHAT A GREAT LOOKING, HAPPY, HUMBLE BOY.
RAISIN MERCHANT: THIS MAN AND HIS LOOK ALIKE BROTHER WERE SELLING RAISINS OF ALL KINDS, BY THE KILOGRAM, IN TWO LOCATIONS AT THE MARKET. WE WERE RAISIN TASTING HERE. DANA BOUGHT THE YELLOW ONES HERE.

We have lots of scorpions here to eat but we kill them, and don't eat them.the little ones are the poisonest. They can paralyize you if you get stung by them, but it really hurts. BEVERELY
Ugh - makes me squirm just looking at them!
Dad, it was so fun hearing you talk Chinese on the video. Were you bargaining with him? It is so nice to hear your voice. You should do a video of your apartment, or a walk, or of mom and you talking to us, I miss your voices.
Yeah, that was very cool to hear you and the sounds of china, the street sounds, the vendor, the scorpions climbing all over eachother... Very cool, I love yalls blog...

Scorpions show up in my kitchen on occasion, but they don't look like they've got much meat on them, so I pass on the snacking. I like to think I'm healthier for it - or at least less grossed out.
And, I, too, enjoy your blog very much! What a fantastic way this is to share your experience!!
