CHINESE FLEA MARKET

GOT FLEAS?

ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE LAKE BARBEQUE, WE PASSED BY A SMALL FLEA MARKET SELLING ALL KINDS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. THEY LOOKED GOOD.

I DECIDED TO BUY SOME LARGE, FRESH, RIPE PERSIMMONS. THIS LITTLE OLD CHINAMAN WAS VENDING THE PERSIMMONS IN THE LITTLE BASKET IN FRONT OF HIM.

APPARENTLY, THIS WAS HIS ONLY MEANS OF MAKING A LIVING, THIS ONE OLD PERSIMMON BASKET. I FELT FOR HIS SWEET SOUL AND SAID TO QUIETLY MYSELF, "THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD, GO I".

SO, I ASKED THE STUDENTS TO TAKE MY PHOTO WITH THE MAN I HELPED THAT DAY. I WANTED TO REMEMBER HIM. HE SMILED AND STEPPED FORWARD AS THE STUDENTS TOOK THE CAMERA AND SAID OKAY.

HOWEVER, THE STUDENTS HAD DIFFICULTY USING MY CAMERA. THEY TOOK AT LEAST A MINUTE TO GET TWO PHOTOS...ALL THE WHILE I WAS GIVING MY NEW FRIEND AN AMERICAN, EMBASSADOR OF GOODWILL, SHOULDER HUG.

AFTER I GOT HOME, I BEGAN SCRATCHING AND THIS WENT ON THROUGH THE NIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY...

HE HAD APPARENTLY BEEN SLEEPING WITH THE BIG DOGS WE SAW THERE AT THE MARKET...

YES, GOT FLEAS!

WELL, NOW WE ARE TRYING TO GET RID OF THEM... I HAVE SHARED THIS EXPERIENCE IN MORE THAN ONE WAY WITH MY WIFE, DARLING DANA.

THIS IS A CHAPTER AND A POST IN OUR CHINA ADVENTURE JOURNAL.

THAT'S CHINA!

SNOT ALL PEACHES & CREAM HERE!

NICE LAKE VIEW AND A GOOD FISHING SPOT FOR THESE KIDS.

THIS GIANT BILLBOARD IS IN THE COUNTRY SIDE AND IS A QUOTE FROM CHAIRMAN MAO TSE DUNG... THE STUDENTS SAID IT SAYS: THE BEAUTY OF THE WORLD ABOUNDS IN NATURE... OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT...

LITTLE CRABS. AT LEAST I DIDN'T GET CRABS THAT DAY, ONLY PERSIMMONS. SEE HOW RIPE AND DELICIOUS THEY LOOK. I BOUGHT ABOUT 10. THEY WERE DELICIOUS AND THE STUDENT SHOWED US HOW TO BEST EAT THEM. THEY ARE QUITE A FRUITY TOOTY SNACK.

(OKAY GIVE US YOUR SNIDE COMMENTS....BUT BE KIND...THE CHINESE ARE ALWAYS VERY KIND AND HARMONIOUS.)

Please forgive my multiple comments and deletions! I'll just say, "Fleas! That's awful!" and leave it at that, since I'm making a mess when I try to say anything else.

Just another adventure in your list of many. At least you got some good fruit out of it.

Sorry to hear about the fleas living with you guys. AWhat do they have to get rid of them ?Do they have flea bomb. You have to leave your appt for a day to kill tghem Deannes parents hd fleas when they came home from their Mission in their house. When they opened the door they jaust attacked them. So they Flea bombed they house and spent the next day in a motel. That did it. They are bad to get. Julie got good news today that she doesn't have a death sentence now but will have to stay on Chemo the rest of her life. The chemo and radiation are working to slow the Cancer down. She can get out walking now and has to monitor her pain level. She was going visiting teaching today. Love You Bev
